Important Notice: Recruitment Fraud Warning
Acrisure, LLC and its affiliates (collectively, “Acrisure”) are aware that certain groups or individuals may have been fraudulently posting fake employment opportunities and posing as Acrisure representatives, sometimes referred to as “Recruitment Fraud.” Recruitment Fraud appears to be a growing trend where groups or individuals attempt to use an organization’s name to post fake employment opportunities and impersonate employer representatives in an effort to steal job seekers’ personal information or solicit money. These fraudulent job postings might include characteristics such as Acrisure’s logo, links to Acrisure websites or use of email addresses that could appear to be legitimate and are designed to give job seekers the look and feel of a real and legitimate recruitment process.
We are providing this Important Notice to remind prospective job seekers that our recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes, Acrisure will NEVER:
- Ask for deposits, purchases, wire transfers or payment of any kind. If applicable, any background checks, screening or verification processes will be paid for by Acrisure;
- Ask for bank account information during the application process. Paycheck and direct deposit arrangements will be made on the first day or during the first week of actual employment, not before;
- Ask for personal information to be submitted by text message. If personal information is necessary, Acrisure will typically provide a link where such information can be securely submitted;
- Email from a personal email address or free email domains such as gmail.com, outlook.com, msn.com, etc.; or
- Hire or offer to hire anyone without conducting an interview whether in-person, a video conferencing platform (Zoom, Teams, etc.), or by phone. Interviews by web or phone will be organized by Acrisure and conducted by an Acrisure provided link or teleconference number.
Acrisure is actively working to combat these fraudulent schemes, but vigilance and awareness are some of the best defenses to help prevent job seekers from becoming a victim of Recruitment Fraud. Warning signs that may indicate that a job employment opportunity or job offer is fraudulent include, among others:
- Unprofessional language such as misspelled words, poor grammar or overly casual or urgent language in emails or messages;
- Requesting payments to pay for training, equipment, or application processing;
- Unprompted or unexpected offers, particularly through unsolicited emails or text messages;
- Requests for sensitive personal information (for example, Social Security numbers, bank details, or passport numbers) early in the process and before a formal offer of employment has been made and accepted; and
- Generic, vague or inconsistent job descriptions or offers that promise exceptionally high pay for minimal work.
If you suspect you have been a victim of Recruitment Fraud, we recommend that you take the following precautions:
- Cease all communication with the suspected fraudster;
- Report the incident to Acrisure and the appropriate authorities, such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the US (ReportFraud.ftc.gov) or Action Fraud in the UK; and
- If you have shared any financial information, promptly contact your bank or financial institution to protect your accounts.
